A Movie As Highly Rated As It Is Fashionable

For all you fashionistas and Marc-Jacobs-wanna-be’s who study their fashion magazines, who wear the latest trends, and are sporting the next “big thing” that’s hot off the runway, The Devil Wears Prada might be a movie that’ll keep your fashion-cautious self satisfied. Whether you're a fashionista or a possible candidate for TLC's What Not to Wear, The Devil Wears Prada is a movie for anyone looking for your typical “ average-girl-chasing-big-dreams-but-has-to-choose-between-love-or-career” story line.

Directed by David Frankel in 2006, this drama/romance movie is well-rated its 4.5 out of 5 stars. In New York City, this story takes off with a shabby American girl who’s looking for a big break in her journalism career. Anne Hathaway stars as “Andrea ‘Andy’ Sachs”, who lands a once-in-a-lifetime interview with Runway magazine. Although she doesn’t have the greatest fashion sense in the world, Andy shows potential to be a great assistant to the infamous editor of this renowned fashion magazine, Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep). Instantly hired for the position, Andy slowly learns what Runway is all about. Phone calls from Gucci, orders for Starbucks, a crunched time frame, designer clothes from head to toe, and impossible missions from her new hard-to-please boss, Andy’s life soon becomes all about her new job. She doesn’t return home every night to an empty house though; Andy has a loving boyfriend (played by Adrian Grenier) waiting up for her at home. Along with her few close friends, Andy’s boyfriend, Nate, isn’t so thrilled about her new job. Who is this new woman draped in Louis Vuitton, who has lost track of her priorities and common sense? Torn between her new demanding career and the life she used to know, Andy must choose which is more important.

Will Andy pick to follow her dreams of becoming a great journalist by assisting fashion’s greatest editor? Or would she hardly be able to bare the pain of losing her friends? Kick back and find out; The Devil Wears Prada is well worth its 109 minutes.
